Heroin
A central nervous system depressant, derived from Morphine, Heroin is a completely illegal drug with no legal use by the medical profession. This therefore places the user into the position of being a criminal simply by using the drug. It can be injected, snorted or smoked. Because of the sharing of needles, users are often susceptible to HIV, Hepatitis, and other liver disease. Users will often “nod”, with a heavy sleepiness, sometimes with a cigarette between their fingers which can burn right through. Because of the uncertainty of the strength of the heroin (it is usually cut), there is always the danger of overdose. Withdrawal usually involves craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, Cold flashes, diarrhea and vomiting
